I knew Everland had animals before visiting, but I did not realize just how much of the park is dedicated to them. Safari World, Lost Valley, Panda World, reptiles, primates, birds, sea lions, big cats, and smaller animal exhibits can easily fill most of a day by themselves.
We walked more than 20,000 steps, constantly bought cold drinks because of the summer heat, watched a sea lion show, saw animals I would never normally encounter in Korea, and eventually used the sky ride because my legs had officially given up.
If you are deciding whether the animal side of Everland is worth your time, my answer is yes. Just treat it like a real day trip rather than a small zoo you can finish in an hour.
1. Getting to Everland Zoo From Seoul
♡ It takes around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on where you're staying.

Everland is located in Yongin, just outside Seoul. From central Seoul it took us roughly one and a half to two hours using the subway and shuttle connections.
It isn't difficult to reach, but it definitely isn't somewhere you'll casually pop into for two hours. Make this an all-day trip because there's simply too much to see.
Since Everland Zoo is inside Everland itself, one admission ticket gives you access to both the zoo and the theme park.
| Ticket | Weekday | Weekend |
|---|---|---|
| Adult | ₩46,000 | ₩68,000 |
| Teen | ₩43,000 | ₩60,000 |
| Child | ₩36,000 | ₩54,000 |

2. Everland Is HUGE. Seriously.
♡ Check the map before you start walking.

Looking at the map for the first time was honestly intimidating. The zoo alone is enormous, and once you include rides, restaurants, gardens, Safari World, Lost Valley, Panda World, and all the smaller animal exhibits, you quickly realize this is more like spending a day inside a small city.
We finished the day with over 20,000 steps.
Wear comfortable shoes because you'll be walking almost nonstop from opening until you leave.

3. Walking Into Everland
♡ The excitement starts almost immediately.

Walking through the entrance immediately felt exciting. Families with children were everywhere, people were rushing towards rides, and almost everyone looked ready to spend the entire day there.
Summer in Korea gets extremely hot though, so don't underestimate how much water you'll end up drinking.
We actually spent more money buying cold drinks throughout the day than we originally expected.

4. Safari World and Lost Valley
♡ This is where Everland starts feeling less like a normal zoo and more like a full animal park experience.
Safari World and Lost Valley are two of the biggest reasons people come to Everland for the animals. The whole area feels much larger and more immersive than simply walking past small enclosures.
One of the most exciting moments for me was seeing the giraffes. Watching them move around in such a large open space made them feel even taller than I expected.
Lost Valley is especially popular because you can see large animals from much closer than you usually would at a city zoo. Depending on the route and day, visitors may see giraffes, elephants, camels, antelope, zebras, and other animals in the broader safari-style areas.
If Safari World or Lost Valley is one of your main priorities, check the Everland app as soon as you arrive because waiting times can become very long later in the day.

5. The African Animal Areas
♡ Flamingos, antelope-like animals, giraffes, and more made this part feel completely different from the rest of the park.

Everland has a surprisingly large range of animals from outside Korea, and some of them are species you would never normally see unless you visited a zoo or traveled much farther.
We saw several African animals, including deer-like antelope, giraffes, and flamingos. The open spaces and safari-style areas make this section feel much bigger than a standard indoor exhibit.
I also liked how different the environments felt from one area to another. You can go from tropical-looking birds to large grazing animals and then suddenly end up near big cats or primates.

6. The Flamingos Were So Pretty
♡ One of the easiest animals to stop and photograph because the entire group looks unreal together.

The flamingos were one of those exhibits where I automatically stopped to take photos. Seeing so many of them together made the whole area look almost unreal.
Their bright pink coloring stood out immediately against the water and greenery, especially on a sunny day.
If you enjoy taking animal photos, this was one of the easiest exhibits to photograph because you can usually see several birds at once rather than waiting for one animal to come into view.

7. The Sleeping Desert Fox Was Ridiculously Cute
♡ Tiny ears, curled-up body, completely asleep, and easily one of the cutest things I saw all day.

The desert fox was genuinely one of my favorite individual animals of the day because it was completely asleep when we passed by.
It was curled up so peacefully that the entire enclosure suddenly became one of those places where everyone lowers their voice and starts taking photos.
There are so many huge animals at Everland, but sometimes the tiny ones end up being the most memorable.

8. The Chimpanzee Mafia Photo
♡ I cannot explain it properly, but four chimpanzees eating together somehow looked like a full criminal organization meeting.

There was a framed photo of four chimpanzees sitting together and eating, and for some reason the first thing I thought was that they looked like a mafia family having a serious meeting.
I know that probably says more about me than the chimpanzees, but once I saw it that way I could not unsee it.
Small funny details like this made the day more memorable because not every part of visiting a zoo has to be serious or educational. Sometimes you just find one photo that makes you laugh for no reason.

9. The Prairie Dogs Were Fighting
♡ One of the funniest videos I took because they looked like they had genuine personal beef with each other.
The prairie dogs were much more entertaining than I expected. Instead of quietly standing around looking cute, two of them started fighting.
It looked so dramatic for such tiny animals. They kept moving around each other like they were actually arguing over something important.
This is exactly why I recommend keeping your phone ready even when you think an exhibit looks calm. Animals do something random and suddenly you have one of the funniest clips of the entire trip.

10. Monkeys, Orangutans, and Primates
♡ Some of the primate areas were surprisingly active and easy to spend a long time watching.
The monkey and primate areas were another part where we ended up standing around longer than expected because there was always something happening.
Everland is also known for animals such as orangutans, which makes the zoo especially interesting if you have not had many chances to see primates in person.
Their movements and expressions make them almost impossible not to watch. Even when they are doing something completely normal, they still feel strangely human.

11. My Favorite Part Was the Sea Lion Show
♡ They demonstrated how the sea lions catch fish, and it ended up being the most fun animal presentation of the day.
The sea lion area was easily my favorite part of Everland Zoo. We happened to catch a show where the trainers demonstrated how sea lions move, respond, and catch fish.
It was genuinely fun rather than feeling like a dry educational presentation. The animals were fast, expressive, and clearly knew exactly when food was involved.
If you see a show time listed while you are there, I would make time for it. It was one of the few moments where we actually stopped walking, sat down, and simply watched something from beginning to end.

12. The Reptile and Aquarium Areas
♡ Axolotls, iguanas, snakes, giant tortoises, and other animals made this section feel completely different from Safari World.
After seeing huge outdoor animals, going into the reptile and aquarium-style areas felt like entering a completely different zoo.
I saw an axolotl up close, which was especially fun because they look almost unreal in person. Their little faces somehow make them look permanently surprised.
There were also iguanas, snakes, tortoises, and other reptiles. Some of these animals are easy to miss if you rush through, so slow down and look carefully inside each enclosure.

13. Iguanas and the Green Snake
♡ The reptile section had some animals that were so still you could easily walk straight past them.
The iguanas were especially good at blending into their surroundings. At first glance they looked almost like part of the branches and rocks.
I also filmed a bright green snake, and it was one of those animals where you immediately understand how useful camouflage is.
I would not recommend rushing through this area because a lot of the reptiles are hiding in plain sight.

14. The Giant Tortoise Was Actually Huge
♡ Photos do not really prepare you for how massive some tortoises are in person.

The giant tortoise was one of those animals that looked surprisingly impressive in person simply because of its size.
It moved slowly, obviously, but watching something that enormous calmly walk around made the whole enclosure weirdly relaxing.
After seeing so many fast and active animals, this was a nice change of pace.

15. The Parrots Were Loud, Colorful, and Impossible to Ignore
♡ Another section where the animals completely changed the atmosphere because you could hear them before you even saw them.
The parrots added a completely different energy because you could hear them before you properly reached the exhibit.
Their colors looked even brighter in person, and they were much more active than some of the animals we had seen earlier.
Bird exhibits are easy to overlook when a zoo also has pandas, tigers, giraffes, and other huge animals, but this was still a fun stop.

16. Tigers, Malaysian Sun Bears, Orangutans, and More
♡ Everland has many animals you are unlikely to encounter anywhere else during an ordinary Korea trip.

One of the reasons Everland Zoo is worth visiting is the sheer variety of animals. Depending on the exhibits open during your visit, you may see Malaysian sun bears, orangutans, tigers, big cats, pandas, reptiles, birds, primates, and many other species.
The big cats were especially beautiful. Every time I see a tiger or another large feline in person, part of my brain still just thinks, giant kitty.
Obviously they are incredibly powerful animals, but the way they sit, stretch, look around, and move sometimes feels exactly like watching an enormous house cat.

17. Food, Snacks, and Drinks Inside Everland
♡ You will not struggle to find food. If anything, the bigger problem is how tempting every snack stand becomes when you are walking all day.

There are restaurants, cafés, convenience stores, kiosks, and snack stands all over Everland, so you do not need to worry about carrying an entire day's worth of food.
We ended up snacking constantly because it was so hot. At one point I had a corn dog covered in ketchup with a soft drink while we rested.
The food was not really the main event, but when you have been walking for hours, sitting down with something salty and cold suddenly feels amazing.

18. Starting With Convenience Store Coffee
♡ A very normal Korea travel moment before spending the entire day walking around a massive zoo.

I grabbed coffee from a convenience store inside the park, which was exactly what I needed before doing hours of walking.
Convenience stores are useful throughout Everland because you can quickly grab drinks without committing to a full café stop.
If you visit during summer, I would honestly prioritize cold drinks and hydration over elaborate food plans.

19. Cheese-Seasoned Rice Cakes and Sausages
♡ One of those theme park snacks that is completely unnecessary but somehow tastes perfect after walking for hours.

Another snack we bought was a skewer with sausages and rice cakes covered in cheese seasoning.
It was chewy, salty, slightly sweet, and exactly the kind of easy-to-eat food you want while moving around the park.
Everland has enough snack stands that you can basically eat in small portions throughout the day instead of having one huge lunch.

20. We Spent So Much Money on Cold Drinks
♡ The summer heat was intense enough that drinks became a bigger expense than expected.

The day we visited was extremely hot, so we kept buying cold drinks whenever we passed a stand.
The orange slushie was one of the best purchases simply because it cooled me down immediately.
If you are visiting in July or August, budget extra money for drinks. You might think you will just carry one bottle of water, but after hours of walking in Korean summer humidity you will probably want something cold again.

21. Turkish Ice Cream at Everland
♡ Because apparently a normal ice cream transaction would have been too easy.

We also found Turkish ice cream, which means you get the usual little performance where the seller keeps pretending to hand you the cone and then takes it away again.
After walking around in the heat all day, I was willing to tolerate the betrayal because I wanted the ice cream.
There are enough desserts and cold snacks throughout Everland that you will definitely find something when you need a break.

22. We Walked More Than 20,000 Steps
♡ Comfortable shoes are not optional here.
By the end of the day, I had walked more than 20,000 steps. Everland does not feel that exhausting at first because there is always something new to look at, but eventually your legs absolutely notice.
Wear comfortable sneakers or walking shoes. This is not the day for shoes that only look cute in photos.
The park is also hilly in places, so the total effort is more tiring than the step count alone suggests.

23. Take the Sky Ride When You're Exhausted
♡ One of my strongest recommendations for the end of the day, even if the line looks intimidating.
When it was finally time to leave, we used the aerial ride that carries you over part of the park.
I strongly recommend doing this near the end of the day because by that point you will probably be exhausted and very happy not to walk another long uphill route.
The downside is that a lot of people have the exact same idea, so the line can become very long. Even so, when your legs are finished, waiting for the ride can still feel better than walking the whole way.

24. When Is the Best Time to Visit Everland Zoo?
♡ Spring and fall are much easier for walking, but summer gives you long daylight hours if you can handle the heat.

If you have flexibility, I would choose spring or fall for the most comfortable weather. You are going to walk a lot, and mild temperatures make a huge difference.
Summer is still completely doable, but prepare for heat, humidity, strong sun, and buying more drinks than expected.
Winter can be much colder and some animals may be less active, so always check seasonal information before planning your visit.
Before choosing your date, read my Seoul weather by month guide.

25. Can You Do Everland and the Zoo in One Day?
♡ Yes, because they are part of the same park, but trying to see absolutely everything in one day is another story.

Everland Zoo is part of Everland, so you do not need to choose between visiting the zoo and entering the theme park.
You can absolutely combine animal areas with rides, food, gardens, and other attractions in the same day.
The real problem is size. If you want to see every animal, experience Safari World and Lost Valley, visit Panda World, eat slowly, watch shows, and ride multiple attractions, one day can feel rushed.
Pick your priorities before arriving rather than trying to do everything in perfect order.

26. Tips I Wish I Knew Before Visiting
♡ The small practical things make a massive difference when you're spending an entire day here.

- Arrive as early as you realistically can.
- Wear proper walking shoes because 20,000 steps is very possible.
- Check the map before randomly walking around.
- Use the Everland app to watch waiting times and attraction information.
- Prioritize Safari World, Lost Valley, Panda World, or any animal you especially want to see.
- Bring sunscreen and reapply it during summer.
- Carry a portable charger because maps, photos, videos, and the Everland app will destroy your battery.
- Budget extra money for cold drinks in summer.
- Check animal show times early so you do not accidentally miss them.
- Consider the sky ride near the end of the day when your legs are tired.
- Expect queues, especially on weekends and holidays.
- If you are visiting with children, plan more breaks because the park is enormous.

27. FAQ: Everland Zoo
How long does it take to get to Everland from Seoul?
From central Seoul, plan roughly 1.5 to 2 hours depending on where you start, your subway route, transfers, traffic, and shuttle connection.
Is Everland Zoo included in the Everland ticket?
Yes. The animal attractions, Safari World, Lost Valley, Panda World, rides, and other Everland areas are part of the same resort admission, although individual experiences can have separate queues or reservation systems.
Can you see Everland Zoo and ride attractions in one day?
Yes, but the park is huge. Choose your highest-priority animal attractions and rides first instead of trying to see every single thing.
How much walking should I expect?
I walked more than 20,000 steps during my visit. Comfortable shoes are one of the most important things to bring.
Is there plenty of food inside Everland?
Yes. There are restaurants, cafés, convenience stores, kiosks, dessert stands, and snack stalls throughout the park.

28. Final Thoughts
Everland Zoo ended up being much bigger and more entertaining than I expected. You can go from giraffes and flamingos to tiny desert foxes, reptiles, primates, giant tortoises, big cats, and a sea lion show without ever leaving the theme park.
The sea lion show was my favorite part, while the sleeping desert fox was probably the cutest. The prairie dogs fighting and the chimpanzee mafia photo were easily the funniest moments.
The biggest thing I would prepare for is the walking. More than 20,000 steps in Korean summer heat is a lot, so wear comfortable shoes, carry sunscreen, keep your phone charged, and expect to spend money on cold drinks.
I would absolutely recommend Everland's zoo areas for families, couples, friends, solo travelers, and anyone who enjoys animals. And because everything is inside Everland, you can combine the zoo with rides and the rest of the park in the same day.
